Stahl’s – High Transverse Crus

The Posterior Conformer (applying upward pressure from below the ear) and the Retractor/s (applying downward pressure from above the ear) work in tandem to correct or to create the superior crus in the Stahl’s deformity. A variation from standard protocol becomes necessary when the transverse crus is positioned unusually high on the ear.

The Retractor will necessarily be placed higher on the ear than is customary, and may result in unwanted pressure between that Retractor and the Posterior Conformer.

The video below demonstrates the recommended Posterior Conformer modifications to assure that the Retractor can be properly positioned without creating pressure on the ear.
