The prominent lobule is often associated with a prominent ear, cup ear or constricted ear that applies pressure to the antitragus, causing an outward rotation and over-projection of the lobule.
Cartilaginous changes affecting the antitragus are driven by several factors:
- An increase in the conchal-mastoid angle
- An increase in the height of the vertical conchal wall, and/or
- A constrictive conchal ring pulling the antitragus inward
As demonstrated in the video below, treatment should include both downward taping of the earlobe, and also downward and outward pressure from the Conchal Former.
