The Stahl’s infant ear deformity is commonly referred to as “elf ear” or “Spock ear”.
Some key facts about the Stahl’s ear:
- Characterized by an abnormal transverse crus arising from the antihelix or superior crus
- High transverse crus will require special attention in Retractor placement
- May disrupt the normal support of the superior crus to the upper third of the ear
- May affect the shape of the helical rim
- A broad range of associated severity
