A critical first step in managing newborn infants with misshapen ears is identifying the ear as either a deformity or a malformation. With deformities, there is no missing skin or cartilage. With malformations, there are varying degrees of missing skin and/or cartilage.
Historically, infant ear molding has been confined to the correction of deformities. The EarWell™ Infant Ear Correction System has expanded the therapeutic options to now include some of the constricted-ear malformations.
